The Bourke Show is set to return on Saturday, 9 May, promising a packed day of entertainment, competition and community spirit for residents and visitors alike.

Show organisers are gearing up for another action-filled event, with the headline attraction this year being the Madstylemoto Motorbike Stunt Show, expected to thrill crowds with high-flying tricks and daring feats.

Other popular attractions throughout the day will include a mechanical bull, Reptile Man, the Royal Flying Doctor Service display, the crowd-favourite dog high jump, farmers’ challenge and the ever-exciting dash for cash.

Families with young children will also find plenty to do, with Sideshow Alley running throughout the day, offering classic rides and games. As the sun sets, the festivities will continue with live music from the Yellowbelly Band, followed by a fireworks display to round out the evening.

The pavilion is once again expected to be a major highlight of the show, following a strong response last year with more than 1,600 entries.

Organisers are encouraging locals of all ages to get involved, with classes ranging from flowers and cooking to metalwork and photography. This year also sees the introduction of several new junior classes, including a lolly necklace and a decorative mud pie, designed to add a fun twist for younger competitors.

Photography entries will close in the week leading up to the show, with submissions to be dropped off at the Bourke Public Library by 5pm on Friday, 1 May. All other pavilion entries can be lodged on Friday, 8 May at the Showgrounds between 8.00 am and 11.00 am. Entry remains affordable at $1 per exhibit, with a new streamlined payment system allowing exhibitors to tally their entries and pay at the front counter using either cash or card.

Pavilion schedules are available from the Bourke Public Library and various locations around town and in and on page 10 and 11 of this edition of The Western Herald.

With entertainment, exhibits and activities for all ages, organisers are encouraging everyone to come along and be part of one of Bourke’s most anticipated annual events. The Bourke Show promises a full day of fun, celebration and community pride.
