Bourke Show draws big crowd

Despite tough times, the threat of drought, high fuel prices and cost of living pressures, the Bourke community came out in droves to support the annual Bourke District Show on Saturday.

Attendance grew from the time the gates opened at 6am until the last events wrapped up and the fireworks closed the Show with an almighty bang as darkness fell across Renshaw Oval.

The 2026 Bourke Show was, by any measure, a resounding success. Months of hard work by the Bourke P and A committee paid off, bringing a day of fun and excitement for the youngsters and a sense of community and kinship to friends and families across the Bourke Shire.

Show committee President Shane Russell said there were concerns that the numbers might not stack up this year because of the economic conditions, but the people of Bourke proved everyone wrong. […]
