Bourke’s Harrison Simmonswins Australasian Boxing title

Young boxing dynamo, 15-year-old Harrison Simmons, continues to impress the boxing world with his skills, winning first place in his weight class at the recent Australasian Amateur Boxing Titles.

Harrison impressed the judges with his technique in the 57 – 60-kilogram class, in a final which took place over three two-minute rounds.

Originally from Bourke, but now living in Dubbo, Harrison’s mother Aimee Sutton said boxing has been great for her son, helping him develop into the person he is today.

“I moved from Bourke when Harrison was about nine,” Aimee said. “As a kid he wouldn’t talk much and then got that normal teenage attitude and we thought maybe boxing would be worth a try,” she said.

“He gave it a go and it’s really been the best thing ever for him. Legally you must be 14 to fight in NSW and that is the age Harrison won his first bout.” […]
