Bourke’s finest hour

Overcoming the threat of the Delta strain in the Bourke Shire could be ‘our finest hour’, according to Officer in Charge of the Bourke Police, Detective Inspector Jeff Little.

With case numbers in Bourke rising again, the military is now in town standing shoulder to shoulder with every available police officer, and Detective Inspector Little said if everyone played their part, the bush could beat the spread of the virus within weeks.

He said police leave had been cancelled and there were now a record number of police on the ground across the police district, as well as members of the Australian Defence Force.
