For Bourke resident Kath Sneddon, joining the local library’s book club has opened far more than the pages of a monthly read. After becoming a member about a year ago, she says the group has expanded her reading habits, broadened her friendships, and offered a welcoming space for newcomers to connect.

The club meets on the second Saturday of each month at Bourke Library, where members discuss the previous month’s title and collect the next. Library Manager Jodi Hatch says the system is simple and well-supported. […]
