Last Friday Bourke Police held a special day of remembrance for Probationary Constable Jayden Ruiz of Bourke who lost life in the pursuit of his duty exactly 12 months ago.

Commander of the Central North Police District Gerard Lawson told the gathering – outside the Bourke Police station – that today was a significant day being the first anniversary of the passing of Jayden Ruiz.   

“Jayden Nicholas Ruiz served the community as a member of the New South Wales Police Force with commitment and dedication until his untimely death on Wednesday 6 September 2023,” Supt Lawson said.

Supt Lawson welcomed members of Jayden’s family to the service, including Jayden’s mother Lisa Kelly, her partner Ned, Jayden’s grandmother Yvonne, and other family members – Michelle, Stacy and Glenn.  You are welcome among us for your loss was greater than ours.[…]
