Bourke is blooming!

Bourke’s gardeners have once again showcased their creativity and dedication in the annual Bourke & District Garden Competition, celebrating the region’s most colourful and carefully tended outdoor spaces.

Garden Club secretary Liz Kerr said the long-running competition is open to everyone in the 2840 postcode area.

“It’s an annual competition for anyone in the Bourke district,” she said. “We’ve previously had schools enter and people on properties as well. We try to include anybody in the Bourke area.”

Residents within 25 kilometres of town are judged in person, while rural entrants can submit photographs or short videos.

“Gardens are judged by someone external to the club, not a member, and we’d like to acknowledge and thank the Bourke Shire Council for their ongoing support of the Bourke and District Garden Competition,” Ms Kerr said. […]
