Bourke High ‘steers’ in the right direction at Beef Bonanza

If you detect celebration in the air at Bourke High School, it is down to characters like Holmes and Watson and the keen students who care for them.

The Agriculture Show Team travelled all the way to the Upper Hunter Beef Bonanza in Scone recently, where teacher Claire Burgess said steers Holmes, Watson and Phantom were paraded in “a phenomenal event involving over 500 led cattle and a huge number of students”.

“It felt like the entire population of Bourke in one Showground,” Ms Burgess said.

“The students took part in parades and junior judging competitions, education sessions, industry demonstrations, steer classes, and an interactive judging competition.” […]
