Pink Ribbon Day on Saturday October 24 is shaping up to be a big day in Bourke.
Already residents, organisations and businesses are supporting the National Breast Cancer Foundation’s annual fundraising day – but in Bourke, the pink theme has gone one step further.
The Bourke Swimming Pool has gone all out for Pink Ribbon Day, after teaming up with former local Adam Daburger and Daburger Building Designs to raise ten thousand dollars for the cause. Adam’s mum Leeanne was a well-known local; who died from breast cancer 30 years.
Pool manager Scott Parnaby decided to get behind Adam’s fundraiser by creating a social media campaign to get people dressed in pink and photographed next to a huge pink ribbon day banner at the pool.
On Pink Ribbon Day on Saturday, the pool will host a pink Colour Run, pink inflatable pool races, and every pink slushie sold will earn a donation from Scott towards the fundraiser.
There’s still time to get your photo at the big pink sign, so head on down to the pool and on Saturday, dress in pink to support the national breast cancer campaign.
