Bourke gets $460,000for another showground upgrade
Upper House MP Sam Farraway has announced another $460,000 for further upgrades at the Bourke Showground.
The grant from the NSW government will allow Bourke Council to install a public shade structure over the bar area at the showground and refurbish the caretaker’s cottage.
Overall, more than $2.8 million will be provided for upgrading eight showgrounds in the Barwon region under the NSW Government’s COVID-19 showground stimulus program.
Mr Farraway said Bourke, Cobar, Warren, Narrabri, Mendooran, Tooraweenah, Baradine and Coonabarabran showgrounds will all get upgrades and new infrastructure while supporting local work.
“Our local showgrounds are multi-use community hubs so it’s terrific to see this further investment to keep them safe and functional for future generations,” Mr Farraway said.
Bourke Shire Council General Manager, Mark Riley, said that council was most appreciative of the funding provided to showgrounds by the NSW Government, particularly the funding provided to the Renshaw/Showground Complex at Bourke.
