Bourke Cook-Off returns for fourth year

The smell of slow-cooked meat, camp oven favourites and a healthy dose of friendly competition will fill the air at the Port of Bourke Hotel this weekend as the Bourke Butchery Smoking and Camp Oven Cook-Off returns for its fourth year.
Organiser Ernie Delany said the event has grown into a popular community day, bringing together cooks, families and food lovers from across the region.
“This is the fourth year, and the same venue,” he said.
“A big shout out to Tiffany and Liam at the Port of Bourke Hotel for hosting us once again, and to all our sponsors and my crew at the butcher shop. Without them, things like this don’t go ahead.”
Competitors will begin arriving before dawn on Saturday, June 27, with cooking officially commencing at 6am after organisers light the fires from 5am. […]
