Bourke community rallies to support Macquarie Home Stay

The Bourke Rotary Club marked a proud moment for the western region with the presentation of a $100,000 cheque to Macquarie Home Stay in Dubbo.

The funds were the result the 2WEB and Rotary Club radiothon and online auction held on July 19, which attracvted massive support from communities, business and organisations right across the region.   

President of the Bourke Rotary Club, Leonie Brown, said the success was a testament to both the cause and the spirit of the community. She praised the facility for making medical care more accessible and less stressful.

“The Macquarie Home Stay brand, and all the facilities that it provides, are very well known, and highly regarded, across the western region,” Mrs Brown said.

“The fact that a remote community with a small population can step up and raise $100,000 over a weekend says a lot about the generosity of the people of our western region, but it also says a lot about the importance of Home Stay to the west.”

The fundraising effort was made possible through the collaboration of the Bourke Rotary Club, Radio 2WEB, the Bourke Western Herald, South Dubbo Rotary – Tour de OROC, and countless businesses and individuals who donated goods and services for the auction.
