Bourke Australia Day Awards — Lisa Rankmore is Bourke’s Citizen of the Year for 2025

Local volunteer extraordinaire – Lisa Rankmore – is Bourke’s Citizen of the Year for 2025.
At an awards ceremony at Bourke’s Darling Park on Sunday – Lisa received the award, saying that she was proud of Bourke, and very proud to say she was from Bourke.
“It’s such an honour to be named as Bourke Citizen of the Year and it was very special to receive the award from my friend Melanie Milgate,” Lisa said.

“Now I just volunteer for four events for year at the aged care facility – we do a NAIDOC event, and we have just completed a Las Vegas event at the hospital, and I get lots of support including from the kitchen staff at the hospital who are fantastic.”
“I just like to help people but there are a lot of good people who do so much good in this community, so and its feels good to be recognised among them.”
Over many years, Lisa has contributed significantly to the Bourke community through her volunteering efforts, mainly in the areas of education and aged care.
She became involved in the education of children when she became a member of the Bourke Public School Parents and Citizens 18 years ago.
Lisa sought to promote the interests of the school and to facilitate its development and further improvement, to achieve the best outcomes for all students. (…)
