The Boomerangs had a big 80 run victory over Two Water Holes on Saturday as the Bourke & District Cricket competition kicked off at North Bourke Oval on Saturday.

A resurgent Boomerangs team won the toss and chose to bat first – a big advantage as the temperature at North Bourke soared above 40 degrees.

After the early dismissal of opener Colin Lang by Troy Hayman Jnr, Aiden Orcher and Paul Edwards set about compiling a century partnership.

The Boomerangs were just 2/139 when Aiden Orcher was bowled by Codey Hutchinson for 68. Aiden scored at much better than a run per ball, carting the Two Water Holes attack all around ground, including 7 fours and 4 sixes.

Paul Edwards also hit seven boundaries on his way to 51, and Boomerangs were 4/147 when Edwards was caught by Codey Hutchinson off the bowling of Matthew Attenborough.

Other notable contributions for Boomerangs came from Edward Elwood who hit 31 runs from 34 deliveries and Max Nina who hit 35 not out from just 27 deliveries, including 3 fours.

Boomerangs were all out in the 33rd over for 223 runs.

Bowling for Two Water Holes, Daniel Duckworth took 4 for 21 off four overs, Troy Hayman Jnr took 3 for 12 off six overs and Codey Hutchinson took 3/24. Unnecessary extras boosted the Boomerangs scores as Two Water Holes bowled 25 wides and 7 no balls.

In reply, Two Water holes started well, and were 3/102 when Boomerangs strike bowler Colin Lang cleaned bowled Two Water Holes opening batsman Russell Tiffen for 33.

For Two Water Holes, Dave Marr and Will Carney were dismissed cheaply – both lbw – by Peter Knight.

Sam Simmons proved hard to dislodge – top scoring with 58 from 56 balls, including 3 fours and 2 sixes.

When Sam was clean bowled by Colin Lang the Two Water Holes batting never recovered, with Clynton Edwards cutting a swathe through the Two Water Holes middle order.

Two Water Holes were all out for the modest total of 10/143 off 34 overs.

Bowling for Boomerangs, Clynton Edwards took 4/26 off 8 overs, Colin Lang took 3/22 off 8 overs and Peter Knight took 2/10. Jamahl Smith chipped in with 1/16 off 5 overs.
