Bone-shaking adventure to raise funds for prostate cancer research

Twelve days on a bone rattling 75-year-old Ferguson tractor over a distance of almost 1200 kilometres may not be the ideal way to see the countryside, but the Parkes Tractor Trekkers wouldn’t do it any other way.

These nine intrepid adventurers and their support crew have embarked on the gruelling trip to raise funds for prostate cancer, a cause close to their hearts – and close to home.

Most are based in Parkes, and each had to transport his Fergie to Bourke on a trailer before the trek started – a feat in itself.

On Monday morning, after an overnight stay with host Ross Williams at Riverview Farms, the Trekkers gathered in Bourke, fired up the ancient engines on their Fergies and in a cloud of exhaust fumes, hit the road for their 12-day adventure.
