Newly opened facilities at Macquarie Home Stay in Dubbo are already making a positive impact, providing much-needed accommodation for rural patients travelling for medical care.
And according to Macquarie Home Stay Managing Director Rod Crowfoot, there is more to come.
The not-for-profit organisation has added a new building to its existing accommodation site, designed specifically to support patients visiting the Western Cancer Centre.
The expansion includes a variety of unit types; one-bed, two-bed, and family units with additions like kitchenettes in every room.
“One of my directors said something that really stuck with me,” Mr Crowfoot said.
“He told me, ‘This is not a word I use often, but this place is beautiful.’ It’s not just about how it looks—it’s how it makes people feel when they stay with us.”
Designed to feel like a home away from home, the facility now offers the comforts of air conditioning, high ceilings, and interconnecting rooms for families travelling together.
The new building is intended to cater to people undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy, PET scans or surgeries, as well as expectant mothers and rehabilitation patients. […]
