Best Bourke meeting in nine years

Bourke’s iconic Back O’Bourke Picnic Races held on Easter Sunday has been declared “the best one we’ve had in nine years” by Frank Kerr, the president of the Back O’Bourke Picnic Race Club.

“On Sunday, we had a lot of positive comments from trainers, jockeys, and the crowd. They really liked the track,” Mr Kerr said. “While the crowd numbers were down a little bit from last year, probably because of the school holidays not being on, we still had a great turnout, and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.”

Mr Kerr estimated around 1200 to 1500 people attended the meeting

“Because of the Bourke Easter Festival, we get a lot of people in town,” he said. “After they’ve spent all weekend enjoying themselves, they come to the races to finish it off.” […]
