From politicians riding kangaroos to larger-than-life caricatures of some of Australia’s best-known public figures, the Bald Archy Prize has once again brought its unique blend of humour and artistic talent to Brewarrina.
The nationally touring exhibition officially opened at the Brewarrina Visitor Information and Exhibition Centre on Friday night, drawing a keen crowd of locals and visitors eager to view Australia’s most irreverent portraits.
Now celebrating its 30th year, the Bald Archy Prize is Australia’s premier satirical portrait award, inviting artists to submit humorous, parody-filled, and often outrageous depictions of well-known Australians. This year’s competition attracted a record number of entries, with 70 artworks vying for the $10,000 acquisitive prize.
