Back O’Bourke Stampede this saturday
All the thrills and spills of rodeo are set to explode at Bourke’s Renshaw Arena this Saturday as the long-awaited Peter Simmonds Memorial Pro Rodeo Back O’Bourke Stampede gets underway.
Events include bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc, bull ride, ladies and junior barrels and steer wrestling and team roping.
Nominations have been received from Australia’s elite cowboys and cowgirls who will compete on Australia’s best rodeo stock supplied by Gary McPhee and Gill Bros.
The gates open at 10am for the morning heats, and then there is nonstop action and entertainment until the main competition kicks off at 6pm sharp.
The event has attracted enormous support for the first rodeo held at Bourke in 23 years.
Six chutes have been set up in the arena, each sponsored by a local business or branch of Peter Simmond’s family. The chute sponsors are Back O’Bourke Collective, Warrego Gypsum, Simmonds Contracting, Lewis Ag Logistics, Simtec and All Plumbing.
There’ll be 10 major events with each event sponsored as follows:

• Bull Ride - Summerville Partnership

• Steer Wrestling - Outback Refrigeration & Air Conditioning
