The popular Back O’Bourke Stampede may be over six months away, but plans are well underway for renewal of the popular rodeo event that was cancelled in 2024.

After a successful Annual General Meeting on Wednesday January 22nd, the Stampede committee was excited to announce that the Peter Simmonds Memorial Pro Rodeo will return once again to Bourke in 2025.

President of the Back O’Bourke Stampede committee, Tye Simmonds said that the committee is keen to go and that “the ball was rolling for 2025”.

“We have locked in October 11 as the date and we’re trying to be bigger and better than ever with nine events, including bull riding, bareback, saddle bronc, timed events, and racing,” Mr Simmonds said.

“We’ve got the McPhee Rodeo Company on board as sponsors, and they helped us run a great event last time. We saw a lot of people come along and have an awesome time in 2023”

Bourke Shire council Economic Development Manager Mel Milgate said the event was a wonderful opportunity for the Bourke community to showcase just how good a rodeo can be.

“Last time, as well as the events, we had fireworks and music, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it,” she said. […]
