A group of Brewarrina youths have swapped school holiday downtime for clippers and combs, taking part in a hands-on workshop that could spark future careers and possibly help fill a gap in the community.

Fourteen participants rolled up their sleeves for a three-day Barber & Hair Workshop, delivered by Brewarrina Shire Council in partnership with the Community Hair Project as part of last week’s Autumn School Holiday Program.

By the end of the program, the group wasn’t just learning, they were cutting. Community members volunteered as clients, giving participants the chance to put their new skills into practice in a real-world setting. […]
