Arthur ‘Musso’ Hooper Rugby League Knockout — Community, competition, and connection on show

A strong crowd, competitive football and a focus on community all added up to a successful day for Brewarrina’s Arthur Musso Hooper Shield Knockout, which was held over the Easter weekend.

The carnival was held in memory of respected Barwon United Swans club figure Arthur “Musso” Hooper, who founded the Barwon United Swans in 1984.

Current Barwon United Swans president Les Boney said the event exceeded expectations, particularly given the challenges in the lead-up.

“It was a very, very successful day, I’m speechless about it actually,” he said.

“As a committee, we were concerned there might be issues as we were lacking helpers, but it all came together in the end,” he said. “It would be nice to see some more community come forward and help next time.” […]
