Aqua aerobics is making a splash in Bourke

Swimming instructor Harmony Starchild has added adult Aqua Aerobics to her busy schedule at the Bourke pool – and her classes have been a massive hit with people wanting to get fit.

“Offering aqua aerobics is a new thing for me,” Harmony from Miss Harmony Swim School said.

“I don’t know how long it’s been since aqua aerobics have been available in Bourke, but I’m now doing five lessons a week and it will soon be six, when I introduce more intensive sessions.”

Harmony’s current lessons are low intensity with all ages and sexes welcome to join.

“The beauty of aqua aerobics is that the exercise is low impact,” she said. “If you’ve had previous knee injuries you won’t feel that in the water, or it will be limited.

“There is water resistance, but you don’t have that jarring that you can often experience when doing normal sports.”

“It’s a huge benefit and the comments that I’ve been receiving is that people don’t feel like they’re doing a workout in the water, but afterwards they know that their body’s been working that little bit, but without any real strain. […]
