Anzac Day at Louth — Over 100 at Louth Anzac Service

A joint headcount by two locals showed close to one hundred and thirty men, women and children attended the Louth evening ANZAC Service at Elsie Eade Park, Louth on Saturday 25 April
The weather was exceptionally fine, cloud free, warm and sunny for late April and
scarves and jackets were definitely not required.
Suitable music was played over the PA system, for a half hour prior to the service, which included the New Zealand National Anthem.
Dermot Murray was Master of Ceremonies.
When the service began, Sharon Junk read The Prologue.
The first reading was an excerpt from the book, ‘Somme Mud’, (the diaries of Private Edward Lynch) which has been presented from at past Louth services. Our researcher and avid historian, Tim Murray presented the reading.
Following the diary excerpt, young local girl, Esther Rodwell presented a piece of her own writing – a poem she’d developed in her Distance Ed school studies of ANZAC Day.
Jackie Davis had made up five fresh wreaths, with beautiful native type flowers amongst each.
