Another $5.3 million for Bourke’s new health clinic

The Bourke Aboriginal Health Corporation Service has secured another $5.3 million to build a long-awaited new clinic for the Bourke district.

Bourke Aboriginal Health Corporation Service CEO, John Fetuani, said the notification of extra funding was great news.

“It’s very exciting,” Mr Fetuani said. “We initially received about a million dollars from the Commonwealth Government to build a new clinic for BACHS but unfortunately, that was pre COVID.

“After that, the pricings and cost escalations meant the price of the building was elevated, so we had to ask for additional funding. We were successful in getting another $5.3 million dollars for our new build.

“Upon receiving news of the funding, we have proactively held community drop-in sessions with our Architect and Project Management team in attendance, both at Bourke and Enngonia. […]
