All among the wool at Goodooga & Lightning Ridge

“It’s going to be a wonderful day.”

That’s the promise from Goodooga–Lightning Ridge CWA member Maxine O’Brien as one of the district’s much-loved country traditions celebrates a major milestone on Saturday, August 29.

The CWA’s 40th annual Wool Day will bring together some of the district’s best fleeces, plenty of friendly competition and the chance for the community to sit down together for a good old-fashioned country get-together.

“Everyone comes along,” Ms O’Brien said. “They bring their own eskies, sit down, have lots of fabulous conversation, a few drinks and it generates a brilliant day.”

This year’s public celebrations will be held at the Lightning Ridge Multipurpose Centre, behind the Bowling Club, making the long-running fundraiser more accessible to the wider community. […]
