A story of the enduring Aussie spirit

It started with an idea to help two mates diagnosed with life threatening illnesses, and with every day of his epic 1650-km swim, Scott Gladman’s idea is building into an inspirational test of endurance.
On Friday, 18 days into the swim, Scott made his way down the Darling River from Kidman’s Camp to the Bourke Wharf, where a big crowd gathered to give him a warm Bourke welcome with plenty of handshakes and a Men’s Shed sausage sizzle.
Students from Bourke High School, including from the Clontarf Foundation and the STARS Foundation, teachers, Bourke councillors and staff and locals lined the riverbank to welcome Scott ashore.
Scott’s ‘Fight the Current’ swim has captured the imagination of people everywhere, partly because of the sheer grit it takes and partly because of Scott’s big-hearted dedication to his friends, and to all those suffering from Motor Neurone and Parkinsons disease.[…]
