The threat of losing private veterinary services in Bourke and Cobar has been resolved, with the sale of the Kidman Way practises to a dedicated veterinary surgeon in South Australia.

Dr Phil Hutt is a passionate advocate of rural and regional vets and the work they do, and when he heard ‘on the grapevine’ that the Kidman Way vet was looking for a new owner, he was determined to keep the practice going – and he put in his bid.

Dr Hutt put in a bid, and the Kidman Way practice is now operating under the auspices of Dr Hutt and his practice manager Joanne Sloan.

Joanne said distance would not be an issue with telehealth now an established service and locums available to attend until a more permanent staff solution is organised.

“Dr Hutt has several vet clinics in Adelaide and the main motivation was to preserve vet services and local employment opportunity in regional towns,” Joanne said.
