A blizzard, bucking bulls, NAIDOC celebrations, and more in Bre these school holidays
Celebrating in Brewarrina
The usual school holiday catch cry of “I’m bored” is unlikely to echo across the Brewarrina Shire this week.
Kids and their families will barely have a moment to spare in an action-packed schedule of events happening all week, kicking off on Sunday, July 7, with the Googars NAIDOC round and the return of the Brewarrina Blizzard ice skating rink.
Brewarrina Shire Council General Manager David Kirby said he was looking forward to one of the busiest weeks of family events and experiences Bre Shire has ever seen.
“Wow! What a week we have coming up! Never has so much been jam packed into a single week,” Mr Kirby said.
“We’ve got ice skating, NAIDOC Week celebrations, a circus school, classic bush footy and even a bucking bulls rodeo, all supported by Bre Shire Council.
“I am incredible proud of all the hard work that has gone into all these events and activities, some of which you’d usually have to travel hundreds and hundreds of kilometres to experience.
“It just shows how proud and committed our community is in creating a vibrant regional hub, right here in outback NSW,” Mr Kirby added.
The massive week kicked off on Sunday, when the Brewarrina Golden Googars took on the Walgett Dragons for a special NAIDOC Week round, with free face painting, a jumping castle and an action-packed arvo of bush footy at Geoff New Oval from noon. […]
