The new Goodooga Artesian Bore Baths received a highly commended award at the recent Local Government Excellence Awards.

The recognition is a significant achievement for the Goodooga community and the Brewarrina Shire Council, and reflects the commitment made to develop the site into a tourism attraction and local employer.

With a population of just 247 people, Goodooga is one of the state’s most disadvantaged communities, and is certainly the most remote award recipient.

The high commendation reflects the importance of the bore baths development, which now gives residents access to a significant recreational facility.
