Brown family takes Monster Grill Show on the road

When the NSW government banned agricultural shows as part of tough restrictions to control the corona pandemic earlier this year, the Brown family lost their entire business in one day.

Peter Brown runs the Monster Grill enterprise based in Dubbo, a business that has been in the family for three generations.

For 50 years, his family has toured the state’s P&A shows, bringing showbags, dagwood dogs, fairy floss and show rides to local communities. When those shows were cancelled, his business was stopped in its tracks.

Even though there was no Bourke Show this year, Peter was determined to keep the family tradition alive and last week was in town bringing fun for families and treats for the kids who have missed out on all sorts of activities as a result of the COVID-19 shutdown.

Peter said it was an opportunity to give back to the communities that have supported his business over decades and a chance to try and survive the worst economic downturn he’s ever experienced.

“We’ve been supporting the Bourke Show for the past five decades,” Peter said. “With all the COVID stuff happening, we are all out of work now, we have nothing – no shows, no events, no concerts, nothing, so it’s hurt us in a really big way.
