The NSW Commissioner of Fire and Rescue Paul Baxter was in Bourke last Tuesday evening for the official presentation of the Bourke Fire and Rescue Medals and Awards.

Commissioner Baxter was accompanied on his tour to Bourke with assisting staff member Murray West.

Bourke Fire Brigade Captain John Milgate said that the long-awaited tour for the relatively new Commissioner, was to say thank you to our fire fighters for their efforts over the bushfire season and through the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The Commissioner took advantage of the timing of his visit to coincide with the medal presentations, which were also long overdue,” Mr Milgate said.

The Commissioner congratulated all our medal recipients on a job well done over many years of service.
