Air Link has faith in better times

Times are tough for the airline companies as COVID-19 travel restrictions continue to batter the industry. But for regional airline Air Link, there is optimism that better times are ahead.

Air Link Managing Director Ron O’Brien said the company was prepared for increased passenger numbers, and has recently hired a new pilot to join the company.

Last week, Jesse Moll made his first flight to Bourke, joining Air Link chief pilot Mark Wardrop and line pilot Matt Williams.

Mr O’Brien said employing a new pilot, even on a casual basis, was a show of faith in the future of the regional airline.

“Airlines are the ‘canaries’ of the economy,” he said. “They are usually the first industry to be adversely affected in the event of any sort of downturn and that has certainly been the case with the COVID-19 pandemic.
