Big Yabby for Fords Bridge

The Warrego River at Fords Bridge has a reputation of the place to get the best yabbies – but how do you spread the word to tourists to make them stay awhile and find out for themselves?

That was the challenge facing the Fords Bridge community and when drought funding became available last year for community driven projects, the “Big Yabby” was top of mind.

Bourke Shire Council Manager of Community Engagement David Perry was the facilitator who helped make the residents’ idea a reality.

“At the community consultation we had earlier in the year we had a discussion led by the Fords Bridge Progress Association,” Mr Perry said.
