The Bourke to Hungerford initial sealing project will see seven kilometres of the road into Fords Bridge sealed this year, with work set to be completed by the end of May.
Bourke Shire Council Roads Manager Mark Gordon said he is hopeful the state funding which had made the project possible would be topped up with federal funding which would see an additional five kilometres of road sealed.
The project will be a major improvement to an important stretch of road infrastructure in the Bourke Shire and Mr Gordon said it would also see up to 20 people employed on the project.
“The work has been funded with $400,000 from the Regional Road Repair program through the RMS, with Bourke Shire Council is matching that with an additional $400,000,” he said.
