Horse trainers across the far west are facing tough times with many regional race days cancelled for the foreseeable future and strict protocols on how remnant race meetings can continue.
For Nyngan trainer Rodney Robb, the cancellations have dealt a heavy blow, with some of his horses unlikely to race again when the industry resumes after the pandemic restrictions are lifted.
“It took me a couple of weeks to get my head around what we were going to do,” Rodney said.
“Every time I picked up the phone it was someone telling me that Bourke’s not racing, Lightning Ridge was not racing, Brewarrina was not racing, Tullamore, Tottenham, Warren not racing.
