Outback Radio 2WEB has experienced a spike in song requests during the COVID-19 coronavirus scare.
Chris Dover, who presents daily requests on Bourke’s local radio station, says he’s noticed a lot more calls – especially early in the week when listener feedback can be a bit slow.
“Mondays and Tuesdays used to be quiet,” Chris said, “but not now, with plenty of people calling in, using out Facebook page or emailing songs through all the time”.
“The demand is so high that I’ve been considering adding another hour and running the daily requests from 2pm to 4pm.
Chris says that listeners are probably stuck at home in social isolation and are using the radio to keep up with things happening in the world.
“Radio is company for people too – we know that generally, but with social isolation, we suspect that more people are tuning into 2WEB daily and we are getting lots more requests.
For song requests you can call 2WEB on 1800 222 585, use the 2WEB Facebook page or email requests to firstname.lastname@example.org
