New and innovative programs focusing on wild dogs will be rolled out across the western region of NSW this year, funded by the Federal government.

The Communities Combating Pest and Weed Impacts During Drought Program will include large scale aerial baiting, a new bait handling facility, pest animal expos, GPS tracking of feral animals, trapping, and an information program for landholders.

Western Local Land Services Regional Pest Animal Coordinator Phil Baird said wild dogs were a significant problem in Western NSW, causing significant livestock losses.

“There are six programs to tackle the problem, developed after consultation with pest management groups and stakeholders,” Mr Baird said.
