Sally tops off stellar year with Sports Award

Being named Bourke’s Sportsperson of the Year has topped off an incredible year for equestrienne Sally Simmonds, who was also named Australian National Rider of the Year for her outstanding performances in competition.

Sally is currently in New Zealand after being selected to represent Australia in the Young Rider Team in a competition and was unable to be at the ceremony on Australia Day to collect her award.

Bourke Mayor Barry Hollman said Sally’s dedication to her sport had seen her reach goals beyond her years and taken her all over Australia to compete at the highest level.
