Desalination plant for Brewarrina’s drinking water

Brewarrina Shire Council has installed an innovative desalination plant to provide residents with more palatable drinking water.
The plant was installed next to the Visitor Information Centre last week and allows people to fill up bottles and containers with filtered water.
Council General Manager Jeff Sowiak said although Brewarrina’s water supply was safe for drinking, some residents had found the taste too salty.
“The taste of the water was an issue for people, so we approached Water Minister Melinda Pavey to try and sort out the issue,” Mr Sowiak said.
