Wilko’s Message to Bourke

Australia Day Ambassador for Bourke, sports broadcaster Peter Wilkins had some inspiring words for the community when he made his address at the Bourke Australia Day ceremony on Sunday – and some words of caution.
Wilko, as he is affectionately known, has been a sporting commentator for the ABC for 37 years and knows much about the importance of teamwork.
His message on Australia Day was that in a crisis, it’s teamwork that will get us through, and as Australia counts the cost of the unprecedented bushfire crisis, he said it was time for the nation to pull together as a team.
“It’s a sporting analogy but the power of the team to get anywhere means you have to rely on others.
“If individuals aren’t performing you won’t get there but a team performs best when everyone is working together to achieve the same goal.
