Bourke CBD gets new funding boost

The Bourke Shire Council has received an extra $1.8 million for more work on the town centre upgrade.
Deputy Premier John Barilaro made the announcement following the successful Community Cabinet meeting in Bourke last week and the money is on top of an extra two million dollars promised for a new bore and pipeline project to help secure the town’s water supply.
“The drought has left its mark with visitors and locals spending less at local businesses – that is why we are investing in the revitalisation of the Bourke CBD and delivering a range of work for local tradies, as well as benefiting local businesses,” Mr Barilaro said.
“Bourke’s revitalisation works will include an awning upgrade and paving, shade coverings, seating, pedestrian crossings, garden beds, CCTV and lighting, Mr Barilaro said.
