Bourke Hospital beds are safe – says Health Minister
There will be no closures of beds at Bourke Hospital, despite rumours within the community that there would be a reduction in the number of patient beds available.
Western NSW Local Health District Northern Sector General Manager, Brian Bonham has assured the community and the Bourke Shire Council that there would be no change to the number of patient beds available.
“There have been no changes to the number of beds available at the Bourke MPS and we are consulting with staff on moving several beds within the floorplan of the MPS, to improve access to staff, and patient care and safety,” Mr Bonham said.
His assurances were welcomed by Bourke Mayor Barry Hollman, but Councillor Hollman was not happy that he had to chase down the guarantees from the LHD.
