The Bourke War Memorial Swimming Pool opened its doors for the summer season at the weekend and proved it is as popular as ever with families and youngsters who kept the turnstile ticking over all weekend.
The main pool was given a thorough makeover during the winter months, with the surfaces scrubbed spotlessly clean before it was filled for the last time ready for the weekend’s season opening.
Bourke pool manager Bus Hollman said this season will be the last chance for residents to take a dip in the original Olympic swimming pool, which was built in 1960 with grant money designed to rebuild communities in the years after the Second World War.
