One of Superintendent Andrew Hurst’s first duties was to deliver the Commanders Address at the National Police Remembrance Day service held at Holy Innocents’ Anglican Church in Bourke last Friday morning.
A small crowd attended the service held to honour the memory of Australian Police who have lost their lives in pursuit of their responsibility to protect the community.
An official wreath was laid, and police staff members lit candles in memory of officers killed while performing their duties – including Constable Timothy David Proctor who died in a car accident on 3 February 2019 as he was returning to Liverpool Police Station to return his firearm after firearm training at the Lucas.
