Liam Rice wins major Rugby Award

Congratulations to Bourke’s own Liam Rice who won the award for Volunteer of the Year for Junior Rugby at the 2019 NSW Waratahs Awards on Monday night.

Getting the junior rugby union ball rolling in 2016/2017, Liam knew he had a long road ahead of him. Liam has worked tirelessly both in the public eye and behind the scenes for the junior rugby union here in Bourke. Getting junior rugby up and running while working and having kids of his own, Liam put his heart and soul into it, getting junior rugby to where it is today.

From organising meetings, the joker draw at the Port of Bourke Hotel, organising game days, the juniors’ jerseys and getting together a team of sponsors, without Liam, Junior rugby in Bourke wouldn’t be what it is today. Massive congratulations to Liam – a well deserved recipient.
