Despite a slow start to the tourism season due to the dry conditions, there is one Bourke attraction that has helped keep the visitors coming – the Outback Showman.

Paul Clarkson and his team of horses and dogs is a fixture in Bourke now, two years after he first came to the outback with his unique blend of horsemanship and humour.

Paul, who hails from the Hunter Valley, performs his Outback Show at the Back O’Bourke Exhibition Centre grounds from Tuesday to Sunday at 11 o’clock.

His other big attraction is his twice daily carriage rides around town and along the river. The horses and carriage have become part of Bourke’s image and visitors are giving rave reviews.

Now Paul is encouraging locals to see their town from a different perspective, and find out a little more about the stories behind some of our historic buildings as well as the natural history of the Darling River run as it follows the river through the township.

Paul’s love of horses and farm life began when he was growing up around Maitland.
