Roy Butler delivers maiden speech

Member for Barwon Roy Butler made his own personal history in state parliament last Wednesday 29th May, when he delivered his maiden speech.

Mr Butler called for equality across the state, with regional communities getting their share of resources, services and infrastructure.

He highlighted the disadvantages suffered by people in the bush – including shorter lifespans, lower educational standards and a reduced quality of life.

Mr Butler said he was honoured to deliver his inaugural speech as the member of the largest electorate in New South Wales, and he spoke directly to the people of the Barwon electorate.

“To you, the people I represent, I restate my election commitments – to work hard and be honest,” Mr Butler said.

“Across the electorate I have met many people who are incredibly passionate about the future of their communities.
