Toorale upgrade to improve river

Water infrastructure at Toorale National Park is likely to be upgraded and aged earthen embankments modified in an effort to increase flow down to the Darling River.

The NSW Office of Environment & Heritage is seeking feedback on the Review of Environmental Factors for Phase One of the Toorale Water Infrastructure Project, which will begin at the end of the year if the changes are approved.

The earthen embankments were constructed in the Warrego River to store and divert water when Toorale operated as a grazing and irrigation enterprise.

Phase One of the project involves removal of an embankment known as Peebles Dam.
