The Back O’Bourke Picnic Race meeting continues to attract big and enthusiastic crowds every Easter.
The meeting on Easter Sunday was another massive success for the race committee, with locals and visitors turning up in droves and members of the racing industry giving it their thumbs up.
Race Club Secretary Sarah Barton said more than 1,500 people passed through the gates despite the dry conditions and the tough economic times facing locals, business houses, horse trainers and owners across the region.
“We were really pleased with the crowd numbers, considering the dry conditions,” Sarah said.
“The big crowd shows that everyone still enjoys the event.
“It was also very encouraging to have Wauchope Race Club President Mr Greg Partridge and Racing NSW Director Saranne Cooke join us on the day.
“Saranne gave us some really good feedback and thoroughly enjoyed the event. It was great to have somebody with her experience on the day because a lot of us enjoy going to the races but we have had to learn how to actually run the meeting, learn the procedures and the details that people don’t see on the day.
